The word itself evokes two kinds of emotions in two different kinds of people. To the happier ones are the ones who usually want and get those sponsorships that enable them to achieve what they dream for. The other kind thinks it as an activity for the ‘business minded’.
I think it as an ‘advance salary in which you don’t save anything’ for doing something which you like and believe in. It enables me to achieve frontiers by breaking free of the financial and resource part of it.
Going beyond the philosophical aspect of it, I would like to mention and thank the sponsors who made this roadtrip possible.
Ducati: My love. Truly. From the red bike posters till the red Multistrada (the MTS in this trip is a black one though!) – the Italians know how to make a bike look, and how to make it go. There have been an insane number of people inside Ducati who have helped make this trip possible. This speaks volume for their passion and supporting passionate people. I just hope I can return the favor by doing justice as a rider and photographer to this wonderful family.
You can have a look at few selected photos that I have clicked of the Ducatis so far here.
Shell Motorcycle Oils: One of the silent workhorses in the trip. And the invisible one too. One slip with this and your bike is good only for a showcase. It is astounding when you think what the oil has to go through at 12,000 rpms. I will using their high end Shell Motorcycle Oil, the Shell Advance Ultra. It is a Fully synthetic 10W 40 formulation which keeps many a Ducatis around the world running at their peak perfomance. Shell is the main sponsor of this ride.
If you already didnt know about the Shell and Ducati relationship, here it is in their own words.
The technical partnership between Shell and Ducati Corse is a strategic relationship in which both parties embrace engineering development. The programme is extensive, covering technical support and consultation, plus product development and provision of tailored Shell Advance racing lubricants and Shell V-Power racing fuel. This technical partnership has been developed over the past 11 years and has become one of the strongest within the motorcycle world having produced 6 World Superbike Riders' Titles and 9 Manufacturers' Titles. In 2003 Shell joined Ducati in the pinnacle of two-wheeled motorsport racing, MotoGP, and in 2007 gained their first Riders' World Championship, the first time a non-Japanese manufacturer had won for 33 years. At the core of this relationship lies a common passion for technology.
If you are from India, you stand a chance to win a Ducati Monster by participating in the Shell Unlock A Ducati contest.
Lenovo: I love their tagline. ‘For Those Who Do’. I like to think myself as a DOer indeed. Before riding and shooting motorcycles, I was a graphic designer in various companies. In fact this very website has been designed by me on the Lenovo. The laptop that they have given me a fantastic T520 Thinkpad replete with a 10 hour claimed backup, 8GB RAM. Plus it’s supposed to be rough and tough too (I will find that out!).

Tudor: The Tudor Fastrider watch range is inspired by motorsports and high end vehicles. They are also Ducati's Official Timekeepers. Tudor has a range of watches inspired from Ducati motorcycles and its specific parts. I will be using their Fastrider Commemorative watch, which will be presented to me in Dubai.
Based on the traditional red and black colors of Ducati, this time piece is meant to mark the partnership of the bike maker and the watch manufacturer, who are official timekeepers of Ducati since July 2011. Making its presence felt with the bright red and black color tone, the watch comes with 42mm steel casing with polished satin finish. The tachometric scale has been engraved on the outer steel rim of the watch, which details out speed of movement. The main movement of the watch is powered by the self-winding mechanism, which never lets time display lag behind, and has a total power reserve of 46 hrs before the next required recharge. The winding screw on the side of the watch, which helps control the movements inside, comes engraved with the Tudor logo other than the one placed at the upper part of the dial. Other distinctive feature includes the 2 totalisers, a 30 minute totaliser placed at the 3'o'clock mark, and the 12 hour totaliser placed at the 6 'o' clock mark. The dial also has been highlighted by the use of sapphire crystal, adding to the final finish of the chassis of the timepiece. Just in case you encounter moisture and drop the watch in water, do not worry as the water resistance goes deep till a depth of 150 metres.
There are have been a lot of other silent supporters, whom will be mentioned as we go along this roadtrip:
Canon India: They have been supporting me since a long time in my various endeavours with their super cameras and lenses. This time I will be carrying the following Canon equipment: The state of the art Canon 5D Mark 3, Canon 5D Mark 2, 100-400mm, 7-0200 f2.8, 14mm f2.8, 24-105mm, a Canon SX40 point and shoot and a Canon Speedlite 580EX.
High Note Performance (New Delhi): They have kindly provided me with a Rev It! mesh air flow trouser which should make my life a lot easier in Dubi and through Iran, basically whereever its hot! Do visit their store, their Facebook page can be found here. The store features premium brands like Shark, ICON and more at Euro standard prices!
Najd Serviced Hotel Apartments (Dubai) is run by a xBhpian and an ex-G.O.D.S (Group Of Delhi Superbikers) member - Rishi Mohan. An avid motorcyclist and petrolhead made my choice for a hotel easy as this was my first visit to Dubai! Their website is here, anyone coming from Delhi or India, who is a motorcyclist can expect to find someone like him running the show there in Rishi Mohan.
Otter Box : They make some fantastic cases for the iDevices which I will be carrying throughout the trip. They are not mere cases, but proper two layered armoured ultra high quality stuff. Read here to know all about it!
